Business Scenario: Scenario Versions & Material Flow

Business Scenario: Scenario Versions & Material Flow

This article is part of the Business Scenario series, split from the original Business Scenario article.
Business Scenario allows you to create scenario versions, map it to a supply chain material flow diagram, view data versions, and compare scenarios.

Scenario Version

Create and select from a list of Scenario Versions to use in the Business Scenario.

Click the + Add button to launch an empty Scenario Version in the list. Type a Name, and use the dropdowns to select the type of data version the scenario will be.
  1. You can create, copy, and delete scenarios
  2. You can also edit data version selections for each data group

Material Flow

To begin working with a new Material Flow, first either click the +Add button to create a Blank Diagram, or click the dropdown arrow to select Blank Diagram,  Auto Generate, or Auto Generate from Filter. Selecting Blank Diagram will require you to create the material flow diagram from scratch with the Business Scenario tools provided. Selecting Auto Generate will create a material flow diagram for you with the data ingested into Arkieva. Selecting Auto Generate from Filter will allow you to auto generate a material diagram from a selected filter.

After selecting either Blank Diagram or Auto Generate, type a name for the new material diagram.

Click Create. The new flow diagram will appear along with any other created material flow diagrams in the dropdown next to the +Add button.

There are five aspects of a material flow that are provided as tools to create the material flow diagram:
  1. Vendors
  2. Plant
  3. Distribution Center
  4. Transportation Hub
  5. Demand Stream
These tools can be configured in any way you need to best fit your material flow. In the above example, selecting auto generate created a material flow with 1 vendor, 3 plants, 1 distribution center, 0 transportation hubs, and 1 demand stream. Also the connections between each of these material flows are different; the vendor has multiple material flows going into plants and a distribution center for example.

Auto Generate from Filter

Selecting Auto Generate from Filter will allow you to auto generate a material diagram from a selected filter.

Run Material Flow Engine

Select from the dropdown whether to run the engine with Logistics, Logistics without solve, or Legacy DRP.

Run Logistics Engine

Select Logistics Engine from the dropdown and click Run Logistics Engine to launch the Run Material Flow Engine options window. Here you can configure the General, Constraints, and Resource Capacity options for the current run.

Run Logistics Engine Without Solve

When running Logistics Engine Without Solve, after the stored procedure PublishMaterialFlowInputStep runs in Arkieva Classic, the Classic Data Group "BusinessScenario" will exist. This data group should have a data version named after the Material Flow scenario that was published.

Select Logistics Engine Without Solve from the dropdown. Click Run Logistics Engine Without Solve to launch the Run Material Flow Engine options window.
